Genova International School of Soccer has gathered together a soccer family of former pro players, managers, FIFA agents, and scouts to band together to form real opportunities for players to showcase their talent to the world of pro soccer. Players who have played many years and have experience not only as pro players but have won World Cups, UEFA Championships, Champions League titles, and have played a combined total of more than 2000 Serie A games.
Among the participants are Morris Pagniello, Mauro Zironelli, Luciano Miani, and Maurizo Turone, to name a few. These people are also UEFA “A” and “B” coaches, directors of clubs, and know what it takes not only to become a pro, but to stay a pro as well as how to achieve success in life after pro soccer. They take great joy in teaching and helping players achieve their goals.
The Italy Showcases are designed to showcase talent from around the world to many clubs of professional soccer. The Showcases show players what it takes to succeed and how a soccer-craved country treats soccer and its players. Players learn what it takes to make a living playing the “beautiful game.” It also helps to create a European resume for the player. In addition, the program helps other teams we play against and provides other pro teams the opportunity to take a look at the players and watch them develop from the U14 level. Scouts, managers, and FIFA agents from different countries are present at games, where they are always looking for new and young talent.
The Italy Showcases are two weeks in duration. The team plays six games over the fourteen-day period. Every player is guaranteed forty-five minutes of playing time per game. The age groups are U14, U16, U18, and our seniors program, which trains players between the ages of 18 and 35.
The U14 and U16 usually play during the month of September. The U18 are played in November. The seniors program, which plays during trial season in Italy, takes place every July and August.
The showcases take place during these months because this is when the big academy teams are in season. The European leagues play soccer from September to May.
In the past, the U14 to U18 play big academy such as Juventus, Torino, Genoa, Monaco, Vicenza, AS Roma, Inter, and other clubs. To help players get their foot in the door, players also lower division teams.
The seniors play teams such as Fiorentina, Bologna, Chievo, Livorno, Siena, Vicenza, Monaco, as well as teams from Scotland, Belgium, and B, C, and D division teams. Most players will fit in the lower leagues to further help development. Getting your foot in the door is very important and the players’ skill, drive and determination will determine the rest.
