The 18+ World Players Tour 2010 successfully came to an end today for the fourth year in a row giving GISS players a lifetime opportunity to play with and against top professional Italian serie A, B, C, teams, and to have an opportunity to be seen by these top clubs and scouts who come from all parts of Europe to sign free contracted players. 20 under 21 players were selected from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Croatia to play alongside eight top Italian professional ex-serie A players.
Results include:
Catania Calcio: 5-1 lost serie A
Chievo Calcio: 5-0 lost serie A
Cittadella: 4-0 lost serie B
Siena Calcio: 2-0 lost serie B
Venezia: 3-0 lost serie D
Sambonifacese: 1-1 drew serie C
Directors comments: "Another great showcase of success to put GISS on the map where real football counts. Our players showed and put in 100% and lost games with dignity, not just being sparring partners for clubs in their pre-season, but making it hard for them to dominate. For example we were 1-0 up for 70 minutes against Serie A club Catania with a full squad on the park including ex-Barcelona striker Maxi Lopez and Japan Captain Marimoto, just to mention two. So far six players have signed pro contracts, and more will be called up for further trials after their outstanding performances. Well done to all participants, and I hope you take back this exclusive experience and grow from it. All the best!"
